[UQ] Preparing to study at UQ in Semester 1, 2022
Preparing students to study at UQ in Semester 1, 2022
Queensland and Australia have been managing the pandemic well over the past two years. However, with the opening of Australia's international borders, Queensland is starting to see the number of COVID-19 cases increase in the community.
Travelling to Australia
The University of Queensland is still planning to welcome international students to the campuses over the coming weeks.
International students are arriving every day and very soon (when the Queensland community vaccination rate is at 90%) students will be able to fly directly into Brisbane and Queensland from many different overseas locations without the need to quarantine. While there is no firm date on when Queensland will reach this target, it is anticipated that it will be around the middle to late January 2022. Students are advised to please continue to check the Australian Department of Home Affairs and Study Queensland webpages for updates.
Commencing study at UQ
When students are ready to make their way safely to Queensland, UQ will adjust their learning to an on-campus experience. It is therefore important that students begin their studies on time even if they are studying online from their home country.
Enrolment into classes closes on 18 February 2022 and students should contact their Faculty to speak with an Adviser if they want information about their options. The study arrangement for Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates is slightly different and students should contact the UQ Graduate School to discuss their commencement options.
If students require assistance with their plans and preparation to come to Australia, they are welcome to join one of UQ's regular online information sessions or contact UQ's Student Services team at student.services@uq.edu.au
