We aim to contribute to understanding human behaviour and enhancing the health and well-being of individuals, groups and communities through excellence in teaching and research.
Our Department of Psychology, Counselling and Therapy is well known for its accredited programs in professional psychology and high quality research in behavioural neuroscience, clinical, health and social psychology, cognition and other areas.
Our Department of Public Health is one of the largest in Australia and is recognised as a leader in health policy and management and for the distinct contribution made by its social and behavioural scientists. Our programs are designed for clinicians, administrators and health researchers.
We also have major Research Centres in our School, conducting research at the forefront of their respective fields.
La Trobe University has strengthened its position as a world leader in Psychology research and teaching, climbing 49 places to 187 in the latest Times Higher Education World Subject University Rankings.
The University is ranked in the top 400 universities worldwide by all major independent rankings agencies – 291st in the Times Higher Education World Rankings (the University’s highest position this decade), 307th in the ARWU global rankings and joint 400th in the QS World University Rankings.
