2024 Student Accommodation Guarantee

At the Australian National University, we are committed to providing a high-quality student experience that includes safe and comfortable accommodation. We guarantee a place of accommodation in one of our Residences or other approved accommodation to eligible students. Please see below the updated eligibility criteria for students commencing their studies in 2024:

Commencing Students:

The following students will be guaranteed a Full-Year 2024 contract:

• Undergraduate and postgraduate students, commencing their program in Semester 1 2024

  
  

The following students will be guaranteed a Semester 2 2024 contract:

• Undergraduate and postgraduate students, commencing their program in Semester 2 2024

Ongoing Students:

The following students will be guaranteed a place in student accommodation for the duration of their study at the ANU:

• Indigenous students

• Students with a defined adjustment plan from Access and Inclusion that relates to their student accommodation.

  
  

• Students on Scholarships with an accommodation guarantee as a part of the awardIncoming students on an approved Exchange or Study Abroad program.Students travelling from Ritsumeikan University enrolled in the joint degree Bachelor of Asia Pacific Affairs (Ritsumeikan) and Bachelor of Global Liberal Arts (Ritsumeikan University)

Please note that you must apply through the correct application pathway to be eligible for the guarantee. 

Non-Guaranteed Students

While we do not guarantee accommodation to the following students, we expect to be able to offer accommodation to:

• Postgraduate coursework students not covered by the above guarantees

• Postgraduate research students not covered by the above guarantees

• Current undergraduate students living off campus not covered by the above guarantees

• Students who submitted a late application

Terms and Conditions

• The ANU guarantees an offer of accommodation in one of our student Residences or other approved accommodation in Canberra as per the defined two categories. The guarantee does not provide a guarantee of accommodation preference, location or room type.

• To be guaranteed, a student must apply for accommodation by the guarantee date.

• Postgraduate students may be offered a room in a residence that is not a dedicated postgraduate residence.

• Guarantees are based on single occupancy only.

• All residential students must maintain an active enrolment at all times in accordance with their Occupancy Agreement.

• Students who have already completed an ANU accommodation contract are not guaranteed, unless they fall into the two categories outlined above.  Students from second year onwards, and wish to return to the accommodation the following year, will have a separate opportunity to apply for accommodation.
