A Professional Year (PY) Program is a structured professional development program designed to improve a student’s ability to obtain employment in the fields of accounting, ICT and engineering. The formal learning and an internship program as part of this job-readiness program allows students to gain practical skills and training in preparation for professional employment in Australia.
Who needs Professional Year?
PY Program is for students who wish to apply for permanent residency in Australia. They must have graduated from an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program that appropriately matches the PY program which they apply. Applicants must have or have applied for the 485 Graduate (Temporary) Visa for the duration of the PY program.
What are the benefits of Professional Year?
A PY Program helps to develop communicative skills, practical experience and knowledge of Australian workplace and culture. Students can gain 5 migration points towards their PR application and add value to their CV.
About the Professional Year internship
Through the practical PY internship program, students gain the opportunity to experience an Australian professional work environment. Students get to apply and further develop their professional skills, improve interpersonal and communication skills and build networks of professional contacts. All these professional experiences can be added on their CV.
2. Entry Requirements- Academic Requirement
Have successfully completed a minimum of two years of full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study in Australia for either accounting, ICT or engineering.Hold a valid passport and a 485 Graduate (Temporary) Visa / an eligible Secondary Visa with work and study rights with at least 12 months of validity.Undertake an application interview and provide a valid skills assessment.
English Requirement
Applicants must have at least a PTE-A score of 50 in all categories or overall IELTS score of 6.0 across all four competencies or equivalent.
